Aspiring to unity in a city as diverse as Plainfield means learning what is important to our fellow residents and showing respect.
Dan's use of the word "hajj" to describe his visit to City Hall Friday struck me as disrespectful. Hajj means the pilgrimage to Mecca that Muslims are expected make at least once in their lifetimes. It is the fifth pillar of Islam. Dan was just handing out questionnaires to employees as part of the mayoral transition process.
